-
What advantages does road transport offer compared to other transport methods?
Road transport offers numerous advantages: high flexibility in pickup and delivery times, door-to-door service without transshipment, good cost control, quick responsiveness to short-term requirements, close-knit transport network throughout Europe, and the ability to transport almost all types of goods. Especially for transport within Europe, road transport often represents the fastest and most cost-effective option.
-
How are vehicles transported by road?
For the transport of vehicles by road, we use specialized car carriers. Depending on the type and number of vehicles to be transported, open or closed car carriers are used. Closed transporters offer maximum protection for high-value vehicles, while open transporters represent a cost-effective solution for standard vehicles. For particularly valuable or sensitive vehicles, we also offer individual transports. All vehicles are professionally secured and are fully insured during transport.
-
What is the difference between FTL and LTL?
FTL (Full Truck Load) refers to full loads where an entire truck is used exclusively for your shipment. This offers advantages such as direct transport without transshipment, shorter transit times and higher security. LTL (Less than Truck Load) refers to partial loads where your shipment is consolidated with other shipments. This is more cost-effective for smaller shipments, but may mean longer transit times due to consolidation and multiple stops. We are happy to advise you on which option is best suited for your specific requirements.
-
What documents are required for road transport?
For road transport within the EU, the following documents are usually required: consignment note (CMR), delivery note, commercial invoice for commercial shipments, and possibly special permits for dangerous goods or oversized transport. For transport to non-EU countries, additional customs documents such as T1/T2 documents, certificates of origin and customs declarations are required. Our team supports you in preparing all required documents to ensure smooth operations.
-
How long does road transport take in Europe?
Transport duration depends on various factors, including distance, traffic conditions, driver rest periods and possible border controls. As guidelines: Within Germany: 1-2 days, Adjacent countries: 2-3 days, Southern Europe: 3-5 days, Eastern Europe: 3-5 days. For partial loads (LTL), transit times may be extended due to consolidation and multiple stops. We are happy to inform you about the expected transport times for your specific route.
-
How are costs for road transport calculated?
The costs for road transport consist of various components: basic freight (depending on distance, weight and volume), toll charges, fuel surcharges, possible surcharges for special services (e.g. time window delivery, tail lift, dangerous goods) and possibly insurance. For FTL, a flat rate per truck is usually charged, for LTL the calculation is based on weight, volume or loading meters. We are happy to create a transparent and detailed offer based on your specific requirements.
